Service Description

Course objectives are: The course introduces the key elements of international commercial arbitration. The course unpacks the international practice where emphasis is placed on international documents such as the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration [2006], the New York Convention [1958], and the approach of leading jurisdictions, including UAE and the DIFC courts. Course outcomes: • Gain a sound understanding of the principle of autonomy and its significance to the legitimacy and functioning of international arbitration • Appreciate the importance of the arbitration agreements, and the role of national courts in giving effect to it. • To gain a good grasp of the constitution of the tribunal and the conduct of the proceedings. • Appreciate the importance of procedural due process including the arbitrator’s duty to remain impartial. • Gain knowledge of the grounds upon which it is possible to challenge the validity of the arbitral award at the seat of arbitration. • The enforcement of foreign arbitral awards. Delivery: 3 hours lectures, and 1 hour of problem solving and group discussion

Cancellation Policy

CANCELLATION AND RESCHEDULING BY US At times it may be necessary for us to change the accredited CLPD Course content, and/or Venue from those published. Whilst we will use our reasonable endeavours to provide notice of such changes at least three(3) days’ before the date of the accredited CLPD Course, we will not be held liable for any costs/losses incurred as a result of any such changes. In addition, it may also be necessary on occasion to cancel an accridited CLPD Course, including where the minimum number of participants has not been met. In the event an accredited course is cancelled: we shall endeavour to provide notice of such cancellation to you at least three(3) days before the date of the accredited CLPD Course; your CLPD Account will be refunded ; and cancellation, re-scheduling and non-attendance by you Provided that you cancel your attendance at a accredited CLPD Course at least seven (7) days’ before the date of the relevant Mandatory CLPD Course: your CLPD Account shall be refunded In the event you fail to give prior notice required your Credit in respect of that accrideted CLPD Course will be forfeited and you shall have no entitlement to be to a refund.
